Last Few I’ve Seen:

Donnie Darko ( I loved this…weird and all…)
Atonement (beautiful, and well adapted)
Elizabeth Part 2 - or whatever they named it…(not sure the history was solid, but would watch Clive Owen any day)
Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead (hilarious. both of them.  watch them)
Vantage Point (pretty good…implausible…but entertaining)
Knocked Up  (don’t even bother)
The Dreamers (This was just weird. To be weird. Although Eva Green is wonderful in it. Creepy incest subplot though.)
Possession (It was really good. And I’ve read the book. I really like Aaron Eckhart.)
Dear Frankie (there are some great moments in this movie, and it doesn’t cop out totally at the end - like a US movie would have. I haven’t seen 300 but I have a feeling they wasted Gerard Butler in that, he’s really good here)
The Phantom of the Opera (this was just not my thing. I find it hard to believe that others are so obsessed and enthralled by this play and movie)
The Queen (this was a good movie, interesting look into the modern monarchy if accurate.)
Catch and Release (it’s a girl movie, I was in the mood for it - and Kevin Smith makes me laugh)
Hellboy (well, saw the last half of it, MUCH better than I thought it would be, want to see Pan’s Labyrinth now)
Bowling for Columbine (still don’t like Michael Moore, but he makes some great points here)
Freedom Writers (great. see it. show it to your kids)
Reign of Fire (how do you spoil a movie with Christian Bale and Gerard Butler? make the photography so dark and gloomy you can’t see either one. still not too impressed with Matthew McConaughey - although this is one of the better roles I’ve seen him try)
Being Julia (Annette Bening is wonderful)
Y Tu Mama Tambien (I really liked this)
Swimming Pool
The Science of Sleep (watched on ipod…definitely needs a big screen)
The Departed (still hate Jack Nicholson, but Leonardo DiCaprio was great in this)
L.A. Confidential (wow - this wasn’t really my kind of movie and I really liked it - now I know why Russell Crowe is famous)
Little Miss Sunshine (great movie!)
Gangs of New York (I tried to watch it, violent and creepy, and I still kept falling asleep)
The Illusionist (I may like this better than The Prestige - I wish I had seen it on a big screen first)
Invinceable (a football movie - and I liked it!)
The Break Up (ugh)
Friends with Money (not a big Jennifer Aniston fan, but this was good…didn’t like how it ended)
Casino Royale (the new one…I liked it)
The Prestige (really enjoyed this one except for the overlong death scene at the end)
Domino (awful, just awful)
X-Men 2 (well…it does have it’s good points)
Pitch Black (yep…a regular Vin Diesel film festival at our house)
Find Me Guilty
Chronicles of Riddick (yeah…I know…but it was what it was - and I liked it for that)
Fearless (Jet Li’s) wonderful. hopefully the movie was so good it will block the nightmares I’m going to have from the 5 horror movie previews.
Eyes Wide Shut (ummm…think I might have liked it better on a different day)
The X-Men: The Final Stand (2 more times on the flight to Paris…nice t-shirt…does Hugh Jackman do steroids?)
Thanks For Not Smoking (fell asleep for the last 15 minutes but the rest was great)
Old School (funny after a glass of wine)
The Aviator
Step Up (horrid)
The New World (well, there’s a reason people call Terrence Malick a genius - even on a tiny laptop screen, this was the most beautiful movie I’ve seen. Although Colin Farrell’s narration will give you “Apocolypse Now” flashbacks)
Inside Man (3 times…it’s good)
Click (great in spots, fails in the important places)
What’s Eating Gilbert Grape (really liked it now that I’ve finally seen the whole movie)
Cars (good)
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest (fair)
Broken Flowers
King Kong (see post)
Failure to Launch (yawn)
DaVinci Code (we loved it…)
Prizewinner of Defiance, Ohio (loved the book, loved the movie)

Some All-Time Favorites:
All That Jazz

Lost In Translation
Man from Snowy River (I know some of the acting is awful but I love it anyway, I don’t know why)
Much Ado About Nothing (1993)
Tempest (1982)
Waking Ned Devine
